All members of the K & I and NMRA members are welcome to attend and participate in operating sessions.
NOTE – We have temporally suspended operating sessions as we prepare to move the layout to Clark Station. We will resume ops once the layout is moved, set up, and operating again. If you want to do operations during the time we’re moving, take a look at the link below for Opsig.org to find a ops session near you.
When attending a session, please bring a DCC equipped locomotive and caboose both equipped with Kadee couplers. All our sessions operate with cabooses. Also, if you have a Digitrax Throttle, please bring that too. Although there are no restrictions as to what type locomotive to bring we have found that short four axle diesel road locomotives work best for operating sessions. Larger locomotives have trouble getting in to some of the smaller sidings of certain industries on the layout.
What’s an Operating Session? It’s operating a model railroad layout to realistically emulate the practice of prototype railroads. Want to know more about model railroad operations? Click the link below.
Or visit the K & I when we’re open to the public. We’ll explain all about operating sessions. It’s just one of the many interesting aspects of the model railroading hobby. To find out when we’re open, see our K & I Schedule of Events under CLUB INFO on the main web page for the latest information about when we’ll be open next.
