Club Layouts

The club currently has three layouts.

The Primary Layout is a semi permanent sectional layout that is available for member use.  It is owned by the Club.  Some modules were built by individual members.  Others were built by the Club.  Many modules were reconfigured and refreshed after we moved into our new home in July 2019.

Originally when all the modules were constructed, there was no specified geographical area, era, season or terrain. As long as the modules met the specifications for wiring, track height, and track alignment to join adjacent sections.  After the move to our new home, some modules were rearranged from where they stood at our last location, the Old Buckner Firehouse, to make a more plausible arrangement.

The second layout is our Traveling Layout which we use for display at train shows, libraries and other public events.  It has a minimum footprint of 20 x 8′ up to a maximum of 28 x 10′ with three main lines.  The Downtown side of the layout is the 50’s era and the Industrial side is the modern era.  The Traveling Layout is also owned by the Club.

The Thomas & Friends Layout which is especially for the young and the young at heart, is 60 x 40″ and just 24 inches off the ground.

Primary Layout and Traveling Layout Configuration
Usually in Model Railroading, West is to the left and East is to the right no matter which direction you are actually facing
